Birding Walks at Fairview Farm

Monday mornings in December, join naturalist Alan Rennie as he surveys birds in the forests, meadows and pond at Raritan Headwaters Wildlife Preserve, located at 2121 Larger Cross Rd., Bedminster NJ.

December is a nice time to see resident birds and northern species who visit Fairview Farm in winter for the excellent food resources and cover in the meadows, scrub-shrub, and forest habitats.  Some northern birds that we should be on the lookout for include American Tree Sparrow, Fox Sparrow, Purple Finch, Pine Siskin, Northern Harrier, Red-breasted Nuthatch and who knows, maybe even a Northern Shrike.

Walks will take place Dec. 4, 11 and 18, beginning at 7:30 a.m. at the Brick Cottage. There will be no walk Dec. 25.

All are welcome! No need to pre-register. We recommend you bring binoculars, and wear good walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing. In the event of rain/snow, the walk will be cancelled.
