Protecting Critical Water Resources in the Highlands

A Watershed Tools for Local Leaders Webinar

Presented by:  Ben Spinelli, Executive Director NJ Highlands Council

The importance of protecting the Highlands Region of New Jersey cannot be overstated. Nearly 70% of the state’s population relies on drinking water sourced from the Highlands, including 8 out of 10 residents living in overburdened communities. Each day, approximately 860 million gallons of clean drinking water flow from the region to communities across the state, despite current drought conditions.

The 88 municipalities of the New Jersey Highlands play a critical role in safeguarding these watersheds. In this webinar, Ben Spinelli will discuss the importance of protecting Highlands water resources, the challenges facing the region, and the vital role municipal leaders play in ensuring clean, reliable drinking water for millions of New Jersey residents now and into the future.
