Join us in planting milkweed plugs and seeds to enhance the meadows at Fairview Farm Wildlife Preserve – all in the name of saving the endangered Monarch Butterfly and other pollinators.  This event will happen rain or shine.  We will have information on what you can do in your own yard and garden to benefit Monarchs.

Monarch Butterflies, once so common in our region, were recently listed as a federally endangered species.  Like so many other insects, they rely upon large areas blooming with a diversity of wildflowers in order to obtain food for adult Monarchs. They lay their eggs on milkweeds making this a key larval host plant, critical for the recovery of this species.

What to bring: Clothes and footwear suitable for possibly muddy conditions; rain gear and cool weather clothes if needed; gardening gloves; a refillable water bottle.  We’ll provide the milkweed and the tools.
