Raritan Headwaters Association has partnered with Raritan Township to improve the riparian buffer along the Walnut Brook in Flemington and will be planting 300 native trees and shrubs along the riverbank on October 8th and 9th from 9:00am – 4:00pm. Alternate rain dates if needed will be October 15th and 16th.
RHA is seeking volunteers to help plant these trees and install tree protection to prevent deer browse. RHA and Raritan Township will be pre-drilling holes for the trees, so no to very minimal digging will be necessary during the planting. If you are interested in joining us, please pre-register for a date and time preference. There are multiple days to signup for and there are two sessions each day, one morning and one afternoon. Please reach out to Restoration Coordinator, Robert Lucas with questions rlucas@raritanheadwaters.org If you have any questions about volunteering for RHA, please email RHA’s Volunteer Coordinator, Debbie Newcomb at dnewcomb@raritanheadwaters.org. The event will be held at Mine Brook Park and the Bernadette Morales Nature Preserve and there is plenty of parking (Capner Street parking lot), as well as a restroom option.
